Why This Unseen Photo of Princess Charlotte Is So Special to Kate Middleton
In her first-ever podcast interview, Kate Middleton made several candid confessions about raising her three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — as a modern royal mom.
During her conversation with Giovanna Fletcher on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, the duchess discussed the lessons she learned from her own childhood and how she and Prince William try apply those old-fashioned set of values to their new family, which includes bringing life back to basics.
“I think the things that really resonate with me most are the simple things and actually I see that now with my own children. Life now is so busy, so distracting and actually sometimes the simple things like watching a fire on a really rainy day provides such enjoyment,” she said. “I remember that from my childhood — doing the simple things, going for a walk together, and that’s really what I try and do with my children as well because it totally strips away all the complications, all the pressures."
According to Kate, there's a particular photo of Charlotte that she treasures for its utter simplicity — and she just shared the never-before-seen snap on her official Instagram account.
“I’ve got this one photo of Charlotte smelling a bluebell, and really for me it’s moments like that that mean so much to me as a parent, and I try every day to put moments like that in, even if they’re small or even if I don’t have time," Middleton said on the podcast and captioned the sweet image of her daughter bent over, smelling a bluebell (one of Princess Diana's favorite flowers) on the social media app.
The snapshot was taken by Kate and appears to be from Charlotte's fourth birthday photo shoot, as the young royal is wearing a similar gray sweater and plaid skirt.
Other highlights from Kate's interview include discussions surrounding "mom guilt," her first royal photo call after giving birth to Prince George, and the hypo-birthing technique that saved her during labor. Listen to the full podcast here.
